Nintendo Switch is doing well in Japan.
Sales of Nintendo Switch in Japan have reached 4 million units, according to Media Create.
Media Create is an independent firm which tracks retail sales in the region, similar to NPD in the US and GFK Chart-Track in the UK. Nintendo cites Media Create figures when reporting unit sales, as does Capcom.
According to figures released for the week ending March 25, lifetime sales of Nintendo Switch in Japan reached 3,952,748 or approximately 4 million unit sold (thanks, resetera).
In contrast, Famistu estimates Switch has sold 4,037,144 units. While the figures show a 84,396 difference, when calculating retail sales it’s not huge discrepancy.
Both companies use different means of research, but either way, Nintendo Switch has sold 4 million units in Japan. The console is now on track to best lifetime sales of GameCube in the region – if it hasn’t already.
Nintendo estimates worldwide sales of Nintendo Switch are 14.86 million, as of December 2017.
Updated figures will likely be provided on April 26 when Nintendo releases its fiscal year-end report.
