Every match of Fortnite is different. Whether you’re scrapping for control of Tilted Towers or building bases near the giant llama, you never know what’s going to pop out of the bushes next. When you do want to add a little extra spice to the game though, nothing works better than a cool character skin or silly emote to show off to your friends in Squads. But for that you need V-Bucks. There’s no such thing as free V-bucks, so here are a few ways to earn them as cheaply as possible.
Don’t give your account details to any website claiming to offer free V-Bucks, they’re trying to scam you. Epic Games – the developer of Fortnite – posted a warning on Twitter, reminding everyone only to enter their password on the official Fortnite page. Be wary of people offering cheap V-Bucks on auction sites like eBay too – if a price seems too good to be true, it usually is.
PSA:
Visiting websites or clicking links claiming “free” Vbucks or in-game items are unsafe. The official Fortnite website is https://t.co/2e5rxQV3Uo.

How to earn free V-Bucks as you play Fortnite:
- Purchase the Season 3 Battle Pass for 950 V-Bucks in-game
- Log-in to Fortnite: Save the World and claim your Daily Rewards
- Complete Daily Quests in Fortnite: Save the World
- Complete Storm Shield Defence Missions in Fortnite: Save the World
Get V-Bucks from the Season 3 Battle Pass –
For earning new skins and emotes, as well as V-Bucks, the Season 3 Battle Pass it a pretty good deal.
You can only buy it in-game for 950 V-Bucks, so if you’ve got that amount already, considering picking it up.
If you need to purchase more, 1,000 V-Bucks costs £7.99/$9.99 on the PSN Store, Microsoft Store or Fortnite Store.
For your money, you’re earning 1,300 V-Bucks, as well as more than 90 other rewards, including:
- 6 news skins: The Reaper (John Wick), Elite Agent, Rust Lord, Moonwalker, Dark Voyager and Mission Specialist
- 4 Emotes: Salute, Take the L, Best Mates and The Robot
Unlike the Fortnite:Twitch Prime packs, these skins and emotes unlock as you play the game, so the more you put in, the more you get out. Plus, the V-Buck rewards will give you enough to buy another Blue tier skin.
Get V-Bucks from Fortnite: Save the World –
A more consistent way to build up V-Bucks over time is by purchasing and playing Fortnite’s PvE horde mode: Save the World. You get V-Bucks for doing tons of different activities and they transfer over to your Battle Royale character too. The cheapest Standard Founder’s pack usually costs £32.99/$39.99 on PlayStation and £34.99/$39.99 on Xbox One. However, it’s often on sale for much less – a few weeks ago it went down to £15.99/$19.99.
Unfortunately this method won’t work on Fortnite Mobile, since Save the World needs a lot more CPU power, and is only available on PC and console.
Save the World isn’t updated as regularly as Battle Royale – which is on Fortnite patch 3.4 already – but is still really fun and worth your time.
Get V-Bucks from Save the World Daily Login Rewards:
One of the best ways to get free V-Bucks once you’ve bought Fortnite: Save the World is by logging in every day. It only takes a couple of minutes if you’d be playing Fortnite then anyway.
The daily rewards range from 50 to 1,000 free V-Bucks, so although it might take a week or two, you’ll get what you need eventually.
Get V-Bucks from Save the World Daily Quests:
You can also get free V-Bucks as rewards from completing daily quests in Save the World, which will then transfer over to Battle Royale.
These are different to the Weekly Challenges in Fortnite Battle Royale, which make you do things like summit 10 mountain peaks and search between a metal bridge, three billboards and a crashed bus. These quests involve destroying particular items, killing certain enemies and completing missions as one of the many characters.
The rewards range from 50-100 V-Bucks for each completed quest.
You get one Daily Quest a day, but if you miss a day, you can build up as many as three to complete in one go. So just by logging in and completing your Dailies, you could earn anywhere between 100 and 1,300 V-Bucks.
Get V-Bucks from Storm Shield Defence Missions in Save the World:
Storm Shield Defence Missions are special missions located in different places around the Save the World map. There are at least five to complete in all areas.
You have to defend a shield generator from waves of enemies with the help of other players. Every time you successfully complete a mission, you’ll get 100 V-Bucks.
